To know Peter was to love him. If you were one of the many people that had the opportunity to meet and work with Peter Emily, you should consider yourself lucky. Peter was an artistic, captivating, and eccentric person. He was also a charming and debonair man.
Peter was an AKC Working Breed Judge for forty years and he taught the first available elective course in animal dentistry at Colorado State University in the 1980s. Peter published numerous books and articles that have contributed greatly to veterinary medicine. He lectured nationally and internationally on six continents and received multiple national and international awards for his contributions to veterinary dentistry.
The mission of PEIVDF is to provide life improving advanced veterinary dental care and treatment to exotic animals located in US and overseas captive animal facilities and animal sanctuaries. The foundation chooses facilities which are under funded and/or understaffed from a veterinary perspective.
Through these missions, the foundation aims to increasing the availability of veterinary dental education through hands-on learning.
Lectures, seminars, and sturdy groups educate the mission workers, the veterinarians, and the caretakers of the sanctuaries on how to facilitate, improve, and maintain an ongoing exotic animal veterinary dental care center in their facilities.
The volunteers that support the foundation are here because of their passion for animals and their dedication to improving the care of these animals.
Volunteers are always warmly welcomed! Veterinarians and veterinary technicians are given the opportunity for advanced education while attending and assisting in surgeries. Boarded veterinary dentist work alongside todays new generation of veterinary dentist to learn how to manage oral diseases in undomesticated captive species.
All of the foundations procedures are provided free of charge.
The foundations missions are funded by charitable, tax-deductible donations and all the volunteers cover their own expenses.
